Year in Review: May 2011...

May

One of the highlights in May was the Renaissance Fair at the school I was a School Counselor at. The children created beautiful art work to display throughout our grassy field.

Camping is one of my favorite things to do when the weather is cooperating. There are several great photos from Silver Creek Falls, and another yurt camping trip I went on in May and June. There are also several photos from other fun things that happened in May and June, like the Japanese Gardens, Lady Gaga vs. Madonna bike ride, and volunteering at Lighthouse Farm Sanctuary so they will end up being individual posts. Stay tuned!

Year in Review: April 2011...

April

Getting cute pictures of my cat, Mimi. I brought her back from Anchorage, Alaska. She is such a great traveler and one of the loves in my life. She is a clean cat too who loves to preen herself.

Year in Review: March 2011...

March 2011

My birthday and discovering Branch Whiskey Bar on Alberta. Great selection of pours, just wish they had vegan food options. Another great highlight of my birthday was playing at Sky High Sports- a trampoline warehouse. Man was that fun!

Going to my favorite cousin’s wedding in San Diego was also wonderful. She is the reason I wear thumb rings. I love her so much!

Another highlight of March was the annual Urban Iditarod. This was my 3rd year participating and our team decided to go with a theme of Intergalactic Awesomeness. It was and always is such a crazy good time.

Protesting and using your voice for things you care about is something I advocate and participate in.

Day trip to the mountain to go cross country skiing! I love learning new things and this was a first for me. It is so awesome to be able to drive an hour or so and be in a completely different element. The snow is so pretty and after this trip, I became a believer in XC Skiing.

Year in Review: February 2011...

February

Snow on the ground! I love it when it snows especially when it sticks!  I went to school thinking I had to work, only to find out I didn’t. So I played in the parking lot of the school a bit before I headed back home.

Year in Review: January 2011...

The next several posts are going to focus on the highlights of the last year. Once the year has been reviewed it is my hope to be more diligent and disciplined in creating and posting blog entries on a monthly basis at minimum, bi-weekly if possible. I hope you enjoy!

January 2011
Standing with Planned Parenthood with hundreds of other being. It is crazy that a year later they came under attack again, yet the public from all genders, religions, and backgrounds came together to say “You can not take away the health rights and services for women”

The Better World Shopping Guide (every dollar makes a difference)...

So, I recently picked up a book from Veg Fest called The Better World Shopping Guide. Companies are given letter grades based on Human Rights, The Environment, Animal Protection, Community Involvement and Social Justice. If you want to know where a particular business stands check out the website for more info http://betterworldshopper.org/rankings.html. Supporting only businesses and companies that have an A or B grade is my new goal as a consumer (yes, I know it is not January 1st). And if you are interested in being a more mindful, intentional consumer, I want to provide you with the means to make your dollar count. So here ya go. Learn and Act on the new knowledge, one step at a time.
