So every year one of the organizations I am involved with, Try Vegan PDX, hosts a Vegan Prom. It occurs every year at the end of Try Vegan Week and is always a good time. Back in 2011 the theme was the 1920's.
Personal reflections of culinary delights tasted, places visited, and new and exciting experiences.

Try Vegan Week 2011
Every year, one of the organizations I am involved with organizes an annual Try Vegan Week (TVW) and Vegan Prom. TVW is a week long series of events- social, educational, and active to build community among vegan and veg curious people. It is a great time and usually really well received. Vegan Prom closes out the week as one big dance part celebration. The following are photos from our 4th Annual TVW and Vegan Prom.

Year in Review: August 2011...

August 2011
One of my favorite things about the summer season is enjoying the weather. Whether I am just spending time at a local park, going for a hike, enjoying a camping trip, eating delicious seasonal food, or celebrating good times and good friends at parties, summer is definitely not wasted in my world.

Year in Review: July 2011...
July 2011
Every 4th of July, the organization I am on the board of directors for hosts a 4th of July potluck at a local park. This year I helped organize and promote it and we had our biggest turnout yet. As you may have noticed, food is a big part of my life too, especially when it is delicious, colorful, and good for health and the earth.
Oregon Country Fair, an annual event in Oregon, is another one of those things that are pretty fun. This was my second year attending and a couple friends and I decided to make it into a camping trip too. We stayed nearby at a small campground and spent one of the days at the Fair. The other day was spent enjoying Pizza Research Institute and the surrounding area a little more.
Another fun aspect of the month was my friend Sara’s pirate birthday party! We dressed up, fought with swords, and did some pillaging of some delicious vegan food.
Val and I were able to finally enjoy a music festival together before she left for Tennessee. We had attempted a couple times before but the Capitol Hill Block Party was for the win! We saw some great bands, ate some great food, and had a little fun.
